Dr. Matthew Short was elected to the SCUC ISD Board of Trustees in 2025. A lifelong resident of the community, he attended SCUC schools from early childhood through graduation and returned in 2023 as a classroom teacher. His deep roots and belief in public education inspired him to serve in a leadership role where he can advocate for students and support educators. Dr. Short serves as the Global Ambassador for the Ron Clark Academy, training teachers and leaders in high-impact strategies for student motivation, engagement, and school culture. He is also a writer and consultant focused on belonging, resilience, and educator well-being. At the state level, he serves on the Texas Gifted and Talented Board and the TEA Educator Standards Advisory Committee. As a trustee, Dr. Short is grounded in a philosophy of listening first and leading collaboratively. His priorities include supporting educators, strengthening transparency, and ensuring that students, families, and staff feel valued and equipped for success. He holds a Doctorate of Education, with research focused on improving academic achievement. Dr. Short is honored to serve the district that shaped his early life and professional path, and he remains committed to a student-centered, community-focused approach to governance.
