Amy M. Thomas was elected to the SCUC ISD Board of Trustees in November 2021 and has been an active member of the community since 2005. A dedicated parent, volunteer, and advocate, she is committed to student-focused governance and strong partnerships with families, staff, and the community. Mrs. Thomas is a 2024 Leadership TASB graduate and Master Trustee—an experience that strengthened her skills in governance, collaboration, and strategic leadership, and deepened her commitment to advocating for public education at both the state and national levels. Since joining the Board, she has served on numerous district committees and currently represents the Board on the SCUC Education Foundation. With a strong background in marketing leadership, Mrs. Thomas brings a strategic and highly organized approach to her work as Trustee, ensuring decisions are grounded in preparation and careful review. She also spent many years in youth and children’s ministry alongside her husband, where she led small groups, mentored students and families, and helped organize large community outreach events—experience that continues to shape her service today. Mrs. Thomas has deep roots in SCUC ISD, having attended district schools herself. Both her father and her husband, Terry, previously worked for the District. She and Terry have been married for 35 years and are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to four grandchildren. Their three oldest children graduated from SCUC, their youngest currently attends high school in the District, and two of their grandchildren are also SCUC students. Her two oldest daughters were so positively influenced by their SCUC teachers that they chose to pursue careers in education.
